Today UN member states discuss the creation of a new institution to clarify the fate and whereabouts of the more than 100,000 people missing and forcibly disappeared people during the conflict in Syria. Ten groups representing enforced disappearance survivors and victims’ families in Syria are leading the call for an independent body that can help them gain answers about their loved ones which could set a precedent for all future conflicts. Their call has been supported by at least 90 activists
