The Boston area could see strong, damaging winds Wednesday night into early Thursday as a storm brings snow to northern New England. Over the last week or so, we have had several very gusty days, including Tuesday. As of mid-day, most of southern New England was experiencing gusts between 25-50 mph.
Take a look around any ski lodge and you’ll spot them: the frazzled parent in head-to-toe neon, the poser in a pristine Bogner jacket, the old-school Yankee in boiled-wool gear older than the mountain itself.
A line of showers and some thunderstorms moved through New England overnight, bringing strong winds but not much rain. Mattapoisett and West Falmouth recorded 57-mph gusts.

New England Revolution to name US U-20 coach Marko Mitrovic as next head coach, reports say
The New England Revolution will name Marko Mitrovic as the club’s next head coach, according to reports. Mitrovic, 47, has served as the head coach of the United States U-20 since last year and led the team to a quarterfinal finish at the U-20 World Cup, bowing out to eventual champion Morocco.
Bretton Woods was ranked as the top resort in New Hampshire (No. 5). Meanwhile, Killington Resort was tops among Vermont destinations (No. 6). No other New England states were represented in the list. In its rankings, SKI Magazine praised Saddleback Mountain for its on-slope experience as well as the emphasis on the local community.
