The Wolfpack failed to field a first-quarter punt, which was recovered by the Fighting Camels player Javian Drake at the N.C. State the 12-yard line. N.C. State marched down the field on the game's opening drive, scoring on a 2-yard rush from Will Wilson to take an early 7-0 lead with 13:03 left in the first quarter.
